I have a Yanmar YM240 2 cylinder diesel. I would like to find our if there is another manufacture engine that would fit in my tractor with little modification as possible.
My engine has a cracked block.Or does anyone no where I can get another yanmar 2 cylinder engine

Odds are very very low that you'll find a suitable replacement that isn't Yannmar. Consider that the engine constitutes part of the "frame" of the tractor. If you replace it with something else, the hood will be too long or to short - the steering linkage will be too long or too short (or wont' even bolt on), the hoses won't fit, the wiring won't match - and the list goes on.
There are however, a number of tractor boneyards around the country - some of which specialize in Japanese models. That's where I'd start looking (for an exact replacement). Even if it's not running, something WITHOUT a cracked block is rebuildable.

It's not the most common yannie around, but it is an "export" model for which you can get parts like gaskets and a factory Service Manual (shows how to remove/install). Forget other engines. Contact dealers like Aaron at Hoye Tractor (Texas), Gary at Jamieson Tractor (PA), Len at Shaeffer Tractors (Illinois) or I can get you others, about getting an engine or just a block off a parts tractor. Then try tractor bone yards. ....

The block has a crack on the left side, exterior water jacket of the engine. I do not know it some one could drill a hole at both ends of the crack and weld it up.
Thank you for your reply

Hi Yes you can drill at both end of the crack, just drill through the block. Clean it up after that, get the grease and paint off. Then apply thin coats of JB Weld to fill the crack, Then one good coat. Then paint after its dry. I had the same problem, and its been good ever since. Good Luck.

You can find JB weld in your auto parts store.
It comes in two tubes that you mix together.
JB Industro Weld is the name. Good Luck and let me know
how it goes or if you any other questions. ....
